Hammond Hill Suburban Club Pool Rules

All members AND guests are required to comply with rules.​

PLEASE NOTE THAT DURING ATTENDANT ONLY TIMES (FIRST AND LAST HOUR OF EACH DAY) - ALL CHILDREN UNDER 13 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A LICENSED DRIVER THAT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEM AT THE POOL. THIS IS FOR SAFETY AND LIABILITY REASONS.
The following rules are established for the safety and benefit of all members of the Hammond Hills Suburban Club and their guests:
The Hammond Hills Suburban Club Board of Directors has adopted the following rules as a condition of membership. Each family must complete and return annually, a Pool Membership Application on which they must sign their agreement with the rules set forth by the Hammond Hills Suburban Club Board of Directors.
Each family will agree that the Hammond Hills Suburban Club, Hammond Hills Suburban Club Board of Directors, and the Hammond Hills Suburban Club Management staff are absolved of all liability in a cause for action, where it can be shown that there has been a failure to comply with the rules stated herein. The Hammond Hills Suburban Club and the Board reserve the right to change these rules at which time the membership will be notified.
The pool lifeguards are authorized to evict any member or guest who violates and/or fails to comply with the rules and to enforce such additional rules as may be deemed necessary for proper and safe operation of the pool. Repeated infractions will be referred to the Hammond Hills Suburban Club Board of Directors, in which the Board of Directors may suspend pool privileges for the violator as necessary. Should the situation warrant, the Board reserves the right to cancel the annual membership of the offender without a refund.
The lifeguard on duty shall act as a representative of Pool Management. The lifeguard will supervise the conduct of all swimmers and shall have the authority to enforce these rules.
POOL HOURS:
10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday – Saturday, and 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sundays, weather permitting.
· Opening and closing dates for the season to be determined each year.
· The pool will close on select dates for swim team events

A. GENERAL
1. The Hammond Hills Suburban Club and the Board of Directors accept no responsibility for the loss of money or the loss of or damage to articles belonging to those using the pool.
2. No pets are allowed in the pool enclosure/gates.
3. Tampering with or de-facing Hammond Hills Suburban club pool property or equipment is prohibited. Property damage will be charged to the party responsible.
5. Parents, whether present or not, are responsible for the conduct of their children and guests using Hammond Hills Suburban Club pool.
6. Ten minutes of each hour will be set aside for adult swimming and children’s rest period for adults wishing to use the pool. Absolutely no one under the age of eighteen will be allowed in the main pool during this time. This includes infants with parents. Parents should take advantage of this time to encourage children to use the restroom facilities.
7. The main purpose of the Hammond Hills Suburban Club pool telephone is for emergency situations. However, members may use it for local calls only. (Please keep it short! Excessive use will not be permitted.) Additionally, loitering in the vicinity of the telephone will not be allowed.
8. Loud or profane language will NOT be tolerated. Such behavior may result in suspension of pool privileges.
9. Smoking or Vaping is NOT allowed on the Hammond Hills Suburban Club property.
10. It is the responsibility of the members to clean up after themselves and their guest(s) and not litter the pool deck or other facility areas.
B. MEMBERS
1. Members must sign in every time upon entering the Hammond Hills Suburban Club.
2. The full amount of membership dues (including applicable membership fees) must be paid in full before accessing the Hammond Hills Suburban Club pool.
3. A signed membership application by the adult member on form must be submitted prior to accessing the Hammond Hills Suburban Club pool.
C. GUESTS
1. All guests must register with the lifeguard immediately upon entering the pool enclosure and be accompanied by a Hammond Hills Suburban Club pool member.
2. The Guest Fee is $5.00 per day per guest and a maximum of five (5) visits per season per guest. All guests will be given a wristband and must wear the wristband during the entire duration of their visit that day.
3. All guests are subject to all rules that apply to members.
4. Conduct of guests is the direct responsibility of the member who sponsors them.
5. Guests under the age of ten must conform to rules E-1 and E-2.
D. HEALTH AND SAFETY
1. Only people in allowed attire are permitted in the pool.

2. All commonly recognized rules of sanitation and safety
shall be observed at all times.
3. No running, pushing, horseplay, or causing undue
disturbance is permitted in or around the pool.
4. ​No sitting or hanging on to the lifeline is permitted. Use of
lifeguards’ equipment by anyone other than lifeguards is
also not permitted.
5. Only lifeguards are permitted in the lifeguard chair.
6. Lifeguards and the pool manager are authorized to expel
members or guests from the Hammond Hills Suburban
Club pool facilities who persist in failing to observe the
pool rules. Lifeguards may expel a swimmer (including family) from the pool for a day and the following day. Further disciplinary action will be taken to the Hammond Hills Suburban Club Board of Directors.
7. No glass containers of any kind are permitted inside the pool enclosure.
8. No unnecessary conversation with or loitering around the lifeguard while he/she is on duty will be permitted. Lifeguards are not baby-sitters and must not be distracted.
9. Babies MUST wear waterproof diapers (commonly called Swimmee diapers). No child will be allowed in either the main pool or the wading pool wearing a cloth or non-waterproof disposable diaper. Disposable diapers disintegrate and damage the filter system and are not allowed by State and County regulations. For the convenience of members, the concession stand sells Swimmee diapers at a cost. Diapers SHALL NOT be changed at poolside. Please do so in the restroom.
10. Members are expected to not use the pool when they are ill, have an infection of any type, or have an open wound.
11. Climbing on fences is prohibited.
12. To ensure the safety of all pool participants, the pool staff reserves the right to close the pool in case of lightning, thunder, or heavy rain. The reopening of the facility will be left to the discretion of the lifeguard on duty.
13. The pool will operate within the health & safety regulations and requirements of the State of South Carolina and Aiken County and will be closed for mandated periods of time should health & safety conditions require so.
14. Only Pool Staff and management are allowed in the pump house and pool shack.
15. Absolutely no sitting on the counter of concession stand. Do not loiter at the concession stand counter. Door to the pool shack will be closed and only accessed by lifeguards and pool management.
16. Offenses to breaking pool rules regarding safety result in the following:
1st Offense: Sit out five (5) minutes.
2nd Offense: Sit out ten (10) minutes.
3rd Offense: Must leave the pool for the day.
E. SWIMMING POOL
1. Children under the age of ten (13) years old must be accompanied by a parent or a designated guardian (see Section I) at all times. If no lifeguard is on duty all children must be accompanied by a licensed driver. PLEASE NOTE THAT DURING ATTENDANT ONLY TIMES - ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A LICENSED DRIVER THAT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEM AT THE POOL. THIS IS FOR SAFETY AND LIABILITY REASONS.
2. A lifeguard, or other authorized person, may give a swimming proficiency test to children under the age of 13- 16 that desire to enter the pool area without supervision. When administered, the test must be passed before any child in this age group is allowed to swim without a parent or designated guardian present. PLEASE NOTE THAT DURING ATTENDANT ONLY TIMES - ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A LICENSED DRIVER THAT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEM AT THE POOL. THIS IS FOR SAFETY AND LIABILITY REASONS.
3. Radios may be used at a low volume setting at the discretion of the lifeguard.
4. Chewing gum is not permitted in the pool enclosure under any circumstances. No food or drink is allowed in the pool.
5. Swimming equipment including swim fins, goggles, masks, snorkels, air mattresses, tubes, etc. will be allowed at the discretion of the lifeguard on duty. The decision will depend upon the number of people present in the pool. Large floats and tubes are not allowed at the deep end of the pool.
6. No motorized toys are allowed in the pool.
7. Only toys/balls that are specifically designed to be played with in water are allowed to be played with in the pool. Do not throw water toys across the pool from one side to another as this distracts lifeguards and other pool patrons.
8. Do not step on deck jets.
F. SLIDE RULES
Large Slide:
1. Children must be 48 inches tall to use the large slide. A marking on the slide ladder handles as well as on the sign near the large slide indicates 48 inches.
2. Only one person is allowed on the slide at one time.
3. Only one person is allowed on the slide steps at any time.
4. Swimming is not allowed under or near the exit of the slide. The deep end must be clear each time a swimmer is coming down the slide.
5. After coming down the slide, the swimmer must exit the pool using the pool ladder closest to the pump shed. Do not exit the pool by climbing out on the wall near the slide.
6. No headfirst sliding—feet first only!
7. No standing, jumping or diving from the slide.
8. Stay clear of the slide runway exit.
9. Adult supervision is required anytime children are using the slide.
10. Weight limit for large slide is 325 lbs.
11. No hanging on walls or standing on pool ladders in the slide area.
12. Both hands must be used on the handrails while climbing the slide ladder.
13. No objects should be in your hands while using the slide.
14. No life vests or flotation devices of any kind are allowed on the slide (swimmies, inner tubes, lifejackets, etc.).
15. No rough housing on or near the slide.
16. Do not consume alcohol or drugs before or while using the slide.
17. Do not use the slide if you are pregnant.
18. Do not use the slide if it is damaged.
19. Do not use the slide if you are alone.
20. Non-swimmers shall not use the slide.
21. People with medical conditions should consult their physician before using the slide.
22. An attendant or lifeguard must be present at the large slide when it is in use.
Small Slide: (Intended for small children—please note weight limit):
1. No headfirst sliding—feet first only!
2. No standing, jumping, or diving from slide.
3. Stay clear of the slide runway exit.
4. Adult supervision is required anytime children are using the slide.
5. Slide feet and arms first in a seated position.
6. Look out for people and objects below.
7. Only one person is allowed on the slide at any time.
8. Only one person is allowed on the slide ladder at any time.
9. Both hands should be used on the handrails while climbing the slide ladder
10. No objects should be in your hands while using the slide.
11. Weight limit for small slide is 175 lbs.
G. WADING POOL
1. The wading pool is intended for small children who must be always accompanied by a responsible adult.
2. There is no lifeguard on duty in the wading pool area.
3. Parents are responsible for their own children and must always accompany their children inside the baby pool area.
4. All infants and diaper age children must be in swim diapers.
5. The wading pool is not intended to be used by older children and adolescents during break time each hour for the adult pool where it would disrupt the use of other guests (infants and small children who are using the wading pool during this time). Absolutely no running through the wading pool or heavy splashing is allowed that would be disruptive to other guests. Be respectful of infants and small children who are using the wading pool during this time.
6. The wading pool will not be open during swim meets.
H. REST ROOMS
1. Members are requested to help keep restroom facilities clean.
2. Do not flush any clogging articles such as sanitary napkins, disposable diapers, or paper towels.
3. The cleanup of graffiti or other defacement will be done by the party responsible.
4. Faulty plumbing is to be reported immediately to the lifeguard on duty.
5. All trash is to be disposed of in trash containers.
I. CAREGIVERS
1. Care Givers (i.e. baby-sitters) of children not old enough to use the pool unattended or who have not passed the swimming proficiency test (if administered) must be fourteen years (14) of age or older and registered on the member’s membership application form.
2. Care Givers (i.e. baby-sitters) will sign in every time upon entering the Hammond Hills Suburban Club pool by signing their own name, as well as the member’s children’s names.
3. All Care Givers are subject to the rules and regulations that apply to members.
4. Conduct of Care Givers is the direct responsibility of the members who sponsors them.
5. Caregivers (babysitters) must be listed on the application for membership. An additional fee is required to members who choose to list a caregiver (babysitter) on their membership. Caregivers (babysitters) may only enter the Hammond Hills Suburban Club pool with the members’ children in a babysitting capacity. Caregivers (babysitters) are not considered members, and therefore may not utilize the pool unless parents are absent and the caregiver (babysitter) is functioning in that role.
​J. POOL OPERATION
1. All incidents or accidents are to be reported immediately to the lifeguard on duty.
2. Members and their guests are expected to cooperate with the pool staff at all times.
K. POOL PARTIES
1. Pool party rules and rates posted on the Hammond Hill Suburban Club website.
